Local Dairy, Generations in the Making.

Deep Roots in Somerset Soil
Middlebush Farms, located in Franklin Township, is Somerset County’s last remaining dairy farm and a living link to the area’s agricultural roots. Operated by the Puskas family for four generations, and now involving a fifth, the farm has been producing fresh, local milk for over a century on roughly 1,000 acres of land. Today, about 70 cows supply roughly 1000 gallons of milk every other day, which is processed at Tropical Foods in Perth Amboy and distributed to local markets.
In recent years, Middlebush Farms has embraced environmental stewardship by partnering with conservation groups to protect local waterways with stream crossings, riparian buffers, and fencing. The farm also plays an active role in community education, visiting schools to teach students about sustainable dairy practices. Looking ahead, the family plans to expand into on-site processing to bring locally branded milk directly to consumers.
Through resilience, innovation, and community engagement, Middlebush Farms continues to preserve Somerset County’s farming tradition for future generations.
